The Baltic Sea Contract® initiative
The Baltic Sea Contract® initiative has its origins in many years of work for the Baltic Sea!For many years, work on the Baltic Sea environment has been carried out through, among other things, Expedition Save the Baltic Sea in a large network with many collaborations with universities and researchers, the Government Offices, the Royal Court, Rotary and several other organizations and companies.
The Baltic Sea Contract® Foundation
The Baltic Sea Contract Foundation is a fundraising foundation “The Baltic Sea Contract Fundraising Foundation” that runs its own projects and supports the projects of others, helping to engage the public, businesses and policy makers in the surrounding countries for a healthier Baltic Sea.
The Foundation is independent, non-partisan and non-religious, dedicated to ensuring a long-term sustainable and healthy Baltic Sea for future generations.
Vision
The Baltic Sea environment is showing significant improvements and a negative trend has been reversed.
The Baltic Sea Contract Foundation is seen as a strong contributor and a pioneer in saving the Baltic Sea.
The work of the “Baltic Sea Contract” is seen as an innovative way of doing environmental work.
Objectives
With 90 million people in the Baltic Sea catchment area, there is potetial to rapidly achieve a large number of Baltic Sea contracts, aiming for 1 million as a first major step.
Sustainability
Since what we do is aimed at sustainability, it is important that we also work sustainably. This means that we consider the carbon footprint and other environmental aspects when designing and operating our business. In our work to promote and better the marine environment, we are also open to opportunities to create other kind of meaningful activities. For example by involving youths in projects or in other ways strengthening the community.
