The herring stock crisis continues<\/strong><\/p>\n

The quotas set for herring again exceed the limit set by the EU (more than 5% risk of stock collapse). The quota for sprat is also increased significantly, by almost 50%. <\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The quotas are decided with reference to forecasts from ICES according to a model that is increasingly criticized and which the EU Commission has decided to review. Sweden voted against the quotas that have now been set. <\/p>\n

We continue to work to secure the fish and the ecosystem in the Baltic Sea, we want to see<\/strong>
– Sweden to steer large-scale fishing towards more small-scale fishing for human consumption and emergency supply, which there is now a majority in favor of in the risk day.
– That Sweden urgently extends the extended trawl limit to cover the entire coastline and adapts the rules around this so that the limited fishing of coastal fishermen is not made more difficult
– That the action and recovery plan for the Baltic Sea, which was announced in connection with the launch of the EU maritime pact, is presented as soon as possible.
– That the now announced review of the ICES advice on fishing quotas is initiated as soon as possible.
– that EU fisheries ministers follow EU legislation and regulations when deciding on fishing quotas<\/p>\n
