This is a campaign for all of us who have signed the Baltic Sea Pact; we are doing this now because there is a demand for change in the Baltic Sea—not only from the public but also from politicians in both the European Parliament and the Swedish Parliament. Together, we are a strong voice for:

  • Sustainable fishing, without industrial trawlers
  • A Targeted, Long-Term Effort to Reduce Nutrient Discharges
  • Reduced emissions of hazardous substances

Every contract makes us stronger!

We are working to shift the fishing industry from industrial feed production to food on our plates, to strengthen food security on land without compromising it at sea, measures to slow and reverse the effects of eutrophication in the ocean, and vigilance regarding potentially hazardous substances such as chemicals and pharmaceuticals to prevent their release.

Here are a couple of great opportunities to draw attention to the Baltic Sea. August 27 is Baltic Sea Day, established to celebrate and honor our beautiful inland sea. Let’s celebrate by raising our voices to save the sea from impending collapse. Celebrate in whatever way feels right to you—that’s the whole point of the day. Take a dip, go for a boat ride, have coffee with friends, and think about the Baltic Sea. Also, help more people support the Baltic Sea by encouraging family, friends, and acquaintances to join the cause by signing the Baltic Sea Pact. We’re urging politicians and authorities to take the marine environment more seriously, but we need to become stronger!

After that, the spotlight will remain on the “Allt på Sjön” event in Gustavsberg from August 28–30, www.alltpasjon.se. There, together with both new and long-standing partners, we’ll offer information and activities to encourage even more people to openly support the Baltic Sea—including a fun quiz for the whole family!

Come visit us and let’s talk about the Baltic Sea! Feel free to bring some friends!

We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Hope to see you there! August 28–30 at Kattholmen in Gustavsberg!

Baltic Sea Day, August 27

Baltic Sea Day is a day of celebration! On this day, many people around the Baltic Sea celebrate the fact that we have this beautiful body of water. The day originated as a Finnish initiative by the John Nurminen Foundation, but it is growing rapidly in Sweden as well. What makes this day special is that you can celebrate it however you like—you can take a dip, enjoy a coffee break, go for a boat ride, race with friends from the boat club, or do whatever you want—all while sending a thought to the Baltic Sea. Take photos or videos, post them on Instagram, and tag #östersjödagen—and, in our opinion, encourage your family, friends, and acquaintances to sign the Baltic Sea Pledge. If we want to continue enjoying the Baltic Sea in the future, we need to work together to help it now!

Everything on the Lake

Through a brand-new partnership with Sweboat, the boating industry’s trade association, we’ve been given the opportunity to participate in Allt för Sjön. In addition to discussing the Baltic Sea environment and signing a contract for the Baltic Sea, we’ll be hosting a series of activities together with other exhibitors to engage and involve visitors—in partnership with organizations such as Sweboat, Svenska Sjö, Skippo, Skärgårdsradion, and Rotary.

We hope to see you there!

“Allt på Sjön” is Sweboats’ floating boat show on the east coast; it is held annually in Gustavsberg. Here, you can see the boats in their natural element.
